Los Angeles –The Fourth Pilipinx Visibility Week culmination ceremony drew to a close last Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Pilipino Workers Center (PWC).

The keynote speaker Ivy Quicho, AF3IRM National Chairperson gave an inspiring speech. She encouraged student organizers “ to remember the interconnected of our struggle as Pilipinxs with other communities of color.”

Quicho reiterated that “ organizing does not have to stop at college campus boundaries, that we must fight for liberation of all humanity. We must not dare to struggle but day to dream.”

Nine student leaders who belong to the SIKAP Coalition also spoke on behalf of their school organizations. They were Warjay Naigan of Cal Poly Pomona PASK; Kevin Parducho of Cal State LA Kalahi; Joshua Blanco of UC Irvine Kababayan; Raven Castro of USC Troy Philippines; Andrea Mackey of Claremont Colleges Kasama.

Renee Zapata of UCSB Kapatirang Pilipino; Kamille Magante of Cal State Dominguez Hills Pagsikapan; Kevin Casasola of UCLA Samahang Pilipino; and Angelyn Garcia of Cal State Fullerton Pilipino American Students Association) and their respective membership,

CSULA Kalahi’s group danced the “Maglalatik” to the delight of the crowd.

DJ J the YB of Sessions LA manned the turntables while the Filipino Cultural School, Dollar Hits LA, NativeSol, Pilipino Workers Center, and all advocates and allies for Ethnic Studies were there to display their wares.
