THIRD PABASA NG PASYONG MAHAL SA HISTORIC FILIPINOTOWN ON APRIL 13/14, 2017

Los Angeles—In keeping with the Filipino tradition of Holy Week, the Third Pabasa of the Pasyong Mahal will be held on Holy Thursday, April 13  at noon Time and Holy Friday, April 14 at the Manila Terrace, 2328 W. Temple St. Los Angeles, CA 90026.

The annual Pabasa sa Historic FIlipintown is a unique cultural program presented and sponsored by Philippine Institute of Language, Arts and Culture (PILAC) Inc,.

The Knights of Rizal-Historic Filipintown (KOR-HFT), United Bicolandia of Los Angeles (UBLA) and the Manila Terrace or the West Lake Community Development Corp. Inc.

Unique Cultural Program

This cultural tradition of bible reading by singing in Tagalog is very famous in the Philippines. This was since it was introduced by the Spanish authorities when they introduced Catholicism in the Philippines.

For more than 500 years, the tradition lives on.

The book titled, “Pasyong Mahal ng Ating Panginoong Jesucristo “ was translated from Spanish to Tagalog by Dr. Mariano Pilapil in April 20, 1884.

Ang Pasyong Mahal

The Pasyon has been used for the singing recitation of the passion of Jesus Christ every Holy Week.

For the past three years, the novena for two days singing by reading of the passion of the lord was organized by PILAC , JFAV , KOR-HFT and the other Filam organizations.

We call on people to join the reading/singing recitation for two days, donate food or drinks. Please do not bring meat for these are days of abstinence and join our cultural tradition.

To participate please contact Bernie-Targa-Ganon at (323)683-4477 or email us at alpiegarcia@gmail.com.
