Los Angeles– “Never Forget,” No To The Resurgence of Martial Law.

The People and the Power of Resistance Committee invites the public to a commemoration of the 31st anniversary of the People Power Revolution in the Philippines, on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at 4:00 PM at the Pilipino Workers Center, 153 Glendale Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026.

From February 22 – 25, 1986, more than 4 million Filipino people came together in front of the military and police headquarters at Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) and successfully overthrew the US-Marcos dictatorship in a peaceful people’s uprising, now known worldwide as the People’s Power Revolution.

This commemorative event is sponsored by individuals who were active in the anti-martial law movement (1972-1986), as well as organizations including the following:

Pilipino Workers Center (PWC), Filipino American Human Rights Alliance-Los Angeles (FAHRA-LA).

Kabataang maka-Bayan(KmB) Pro People Youth, AF3IRM , Justice For Filipino American Veterans (JFAV) and the Knights of Rizal-Historic Filipinotown Chapter.

Confirmed speakers include Susan Quimpo (via Skype), co-author of the book “Subversive Lives” as well as Dr. Enrique de la Cruz, Eddy Gana & Stephanie Sajor of KmB, Art Garcia of FAHRA-LA, Jaime Geaga of Union of Democratic Filipinos (KDP), Aquilina Soriano of PWC and other invited guest speakers.
