Los Angeles—“ SAY IT LOUD, SAY IT CLEAR! IMMIGRANTS ARE WELCOMED HERE!”

Despite the steady pouring rain, more than 5,000 anti-trump protestors marched from Olympic and Figueroa junction to City Hall, DTLA in a massive show of force to protest Trump’s inauguration as the 45th President of the United States last Friday, January 20, 2017 in downtown Los Angeles (DTLA).

Led by a board coalition UNITED AGAINST HATE INAUGURATION MARCH, scores of thousands of activist from labor unions, non-profit organizations and people’s organizations marched under the rain that did not let up from last night.

The marchers assembled at 10 in the morning at the intersection of Figueroa and Olympic Blvd. and started marching at around 11:30 AM. The steady downpour will stop for several minutes but will again drenched the protestors who were all ready for the stormy weather.

With their wet banners, flags, raincoats,jackets and umbrellas, the thousands of activist defied the stormy weather. At the rear of the march, a giant replica of orange-headed Trump was paraded and was mocked by the crowd.

As the passed 5th Street and Broadway, pro-Trump supporters showered the marchers with confetti from the top floors of the tall building with word LOSERS inscribed on the papers.

Party for Liberation and Socialism (PSL) activist Carol said, “Who are the real sore losers? Is it the marchers who drew marching crowds of people or those people who are littering the streets.”

When asked about the march she said, “ This is a sizeable crowd (more than 5,000) despite the fact that it was raining. “

ANSWER-LA and PSL is one of the co-organizer of the march that ended at City hall, DTLA. The KmB Contingent joined the PSL banner during the march.

Another march started earlier at the corner of Olympic and Broadway at around 10 AM. It was led by Todos A La Marcha 20 De Enero, a mostly immigrant rights groups espousing immigrant rights.
