JFAV National Coordinator Arturo P. Garcia said that, “ The House of Representatives today approved the Congressional Gold Medal for Filipino World War II veterans

But its too late the hero and we appreciate it for it’s a step towards recognition and equity that the US Congress denied our soldiers for 70 years.”

Garcia said. “ It took the US Congress 70 years to give the Filipino Veterans the Gold Medal after giving it to more than 65 other nations. The Filipinos were the last nation that fought for America to given such medals.

Consuelo De Bobo

While the replica made in bronze will be given to the Veterans or the survivors ( widows or relatives) and they will have to pay for it. In short it is a “pa-consuelo de bobo.”

Garcia said, For JFAV. “ we will continue to push for the Filipino Veterans Fairness Act 0f 2015 that will give recognition to Filipino World War II Veterans and their survivors , give them full military pension for them and their survivors .

We want full equity, not medals or baby steps for total recognition and full benefits.

We will never settle for less.” Garcia ended.
