ALLIANCE-PHILIPPINES EXPRESS DEEP CONCERN ON DUTERTE ‘S DECLARATION OF STATE OF LAWLESS VIOLENCE ” IN THE PHILIPPINES

ALLIANCE-PHILIPPINES EXPRESS DEEP CONCERN ON DUTERTE ‘S DECLARATION OF  STATE OF LAWLESS VIOLENCE ” IN THE PHILIPPINES

Los Angeles” Eternal vigilance is the prize of liberty.”Mysterious-image-appeared-onPH-flag-during-Dutertes-inaugural-speech

The Alliance-Philippines, Filipino American progressive group based in the United States, Expressed deep concern on the declaration of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte of “state of lawless violence” all over the Philippines as a result of the Davao City bombing, September 3, 2106 killed 10 people and That Injured 71 others.

We call on President Duterte to clarify his presidential edict and make it more Profound. Although  He Had assured the Filipinos That does not this mean “a declaration of martial law,”  And he” did not suspend the writ of habeas corpus,

” We also  vehemently condemn the group behind this act of wanton and senseless terrorism. We deeply sympathized and condole with the victims of the Davao City bombing,

Still, we can not remove our suspicion That this is a over-reaction or a scheme for something bigger.

Not the First Time

The Alliance knows That this is not the first time That kind of emergency measure Was used by Philippine President. President Quirino Placed the whole of Central Luzon under martial law in the 1950’s. President Roxas Did not use this power goal Implemented an “undeclared martial law in Luzon” from 1946-1947. Most Recently, less than ten years ago,

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo declared the state of emergency in 2006 and Central Mindanao and Sulu Placed under state of emergency in 2004 and 2006. And maertial law in Central Mindanao  during the attacks of the break-away MILF groups during the failed peace talks.

If the Filipinos at home and abroad Did not frustrate GMA’s scheme, That May-have led to a more Disastrous effect on our nation. She Was forced to take back her proclamation of “the state of emergency.”

Be Vigilant and Firm, Fight for Your Rights

President Duterte said “its like the state of emergency like what GMA Declared in 2006″. That time GMA Was preempting a shot by the YOU-RAM and Were fighting the ASG and the breakaway group of the MILF in Central Mindanao.

We ask Duterte, if the problem is local, why instead the whole Philippines under “the state of lawlessness. “? It is an outright admission of the breakdown in law and order. It is just like burning the barn to drive away a rat.

We call on the Filipino-American community to be ever vigilant and fight for our compatriots democratic rights and abuses.

We call on our fellow Kababayan in the homeland to be vigilant and watch for human rights abuses and never let Their guard down in face of the resurgence of fascist abuses.

Against a Hero’s Burial for Dictator Marcos 14196063_10207458843734581_4465934395577892973_o

September 01, 2016
Los Angeles, California

We, in Los Angeles, California– oppose the proposed hero’s burial of Philippine dictator Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani (Heroes’ Cemetery), not because we harp on the past, but because we care about our country’s future.

A hero’s burial for Marcos glosses over the crimes he committed against the Filipino people during the 14 years he usurped power.

When he was finally booted out of the country by a people power uprising in 1986, he fled with an estimated $10 billion worth of plundered loot hidden worldwide. We estimates the number of opponents killed by the Marcos dictatorship at tens of thousands , the number tortured at 34,000 and the number imprisoned at 70,000.

A hero’s burial for Marcos erases the memory of the Filipino people’s hard-fought and heroic struggle for freedom from his tyranny. A hero’s burial erases from memory the sins of the Marcos dictatorship, and removes another obstacle in the path of the Marcos loyalists’ political ambitions.

Most importantly, a hero’s burial for Marcos negates the hard and important lessons learned from his dictatorial regime’s negative example.

We support the petitions filed before the Philippine Supreme Court to stop the burial of Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani set for September 18. President Duterte should not hide behind legal technicalities that, he argues, make it permissible for Marcos to be buried in a cemetery reserved for heroes

To declare our vehement protest against a hero’s burial for dictator Ferdinand Marcos, we assemble at noon on September 7, 2016 in front of Philippine Embassies and Consulates worldwide.

ALL out for September 7 at 12 Noon at Philippine Consulate General of Los Angeles at 3435 Wilshire Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90010.

Marcos is not a hero!

No to Marcos burial at Libingan ng mga Bayani!
