The lobbyists visited more than 45 Representatives in the House of Representatives (HOR) from February 29th to March 1st, 2016. They have a formal one on one meetings with 15 house deputies in the span of two days. Two additional representatives co-sponsored HR 2766 bringing the number of co-sponsors to 38, with 15 other representatives strongly considering the bill.“Out of 43,000 who applied for the Filipino Veterans Equity Compensation Fund, 24,000 were denied in 2009. Today with only 20,000 veterans left in the US and Philippines, we are fighting for full equity.” Carrillo said.
22 Years of Lobbying
JFAV Visit at Rep.Jackie Speier office, MArch 01, 2016
“Every year, we organize the Justice for Filipino American Veterans March in Los Angeles to educate and inspire the youth. When students ask us when the next one will be, it is bittersweet to say next year. For 15 years, we have marched demanding full recognition for our veterans and their families,” KmB’s  Eddy Gana said.At the end of the lobby days on March 2nd, the group visited the office of Rep. Jackie Speier of California and gave her legislative assistant Josh Connolly, several updates about their lobbying efforts.“Even Rep. Speier is frustrated on the development of the HR 2276. This is one of the frustrations of the congresswoman,” Connolly said during the briefing.“We will press on until we get what we want. And that is justice and benefits for our veterans and widows,” Garcia stressed.
