JFAV: VICTORY IN THE MISS UNIVERSE IS SHALLOW, COLONIZATION AND NEO- COLONIAL RELATIONS IS NEVER “ CLOSE RELATIONSHIP”

Miss Philippine said this,

Los Angeles “ Imperialist Colonization and Neo-Colonial relations is never a close relationship.”

Arturo P. Garcia, JFAV National Coordinator said, ” We respectfully disagrees to the statement of winner of Miss Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach for saying that “ the Philippines and the US have always had a good relationship”

Injustice and racial discrimination in America still prevails. It is due to the fact that until today, 250,000 Filipino-American soldiers who served this country in WWII had their benefits exclusively rescinded by the U.S and remained unrecognized and denied of their rights and benefits as American soldiers”.

Garcia said, “JFAV is one with the statement of KMBPro people Youth that says,  The fact is that The United States and the Philippines does not have a good relationship. Colonization is the exploitation and oppression of a people. Historically, the U.S. has subjugated the people of the Philippines through plunder, rape, and genocide.

VFA – An Instrument of Neo-Colonial Relations

After the United States snatched our independence from the Spanish rule in 1899, over 1 million Filipinos were killed in the ensuing 16 years Philippine-American War,”

JFAV also stated, “ The U.S. military stationed in the Philippines is routinely protected by the Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA) concocted by the Philippine President and the US authorities in 1998 which is a trangession of Philippine Sovereignty and Independence.

Thus, when crimes are committed against the Filipino people, such as the case of the U.S. marine who murdered Jennifer Laude. Considering this relationship, colonization has always been a problem.

Shallow Victory

Our winning the Miss universe  is very shallow for or people are still fighting for true independence, freedom, and justice.

We are still fighting for our Filipino World War II Veterans here in the United States. We understand Ms.Wurrtzbach for her mind “she got to win” but at the expense of the great patriotic heart and brave heart of all patriotic Filipinos. And we will not stand for that.

We ask her to keep an open mind and fight for justice and equity of our Filipino World War II veterans, and all our still living and departed heroes of World War II.
